Cooking with rambutans

Posted in : random refreshment
Mar 5th, 2010

Mick Fletcher, one of our friends and clients, just told us that they’d spotted a chef using Rambutans on a programme called Market Kitchen… naturally, Sarah’s curiosity got the better of her and she decided to give it a try!  Her verdict: “delicious!”

If you fancy trying your hand at flambéed mangosteen and rambutan salad then you can check it out here.

Thanks for this top tip, Mick!

Merry Christmas

Posted in : Rambutan bunch, random refreshment, The story so far
Dec 24th, 2009

Wow, what a year!  2009 was Rambutan’s first full year in business and it has been fantastic.  We’ve tripled in size, started working with some great new clients including London Underground, Makro and Ned Rail, commissioned our web site and had loads of fun.

From an internal point of view we’ve also formulated our values and articulated why we are refreshingly different from the other consultancies and training providers in the marketplace; afterall, how many do you know who offer a risk free guarantee?!

We can’t wait to get underway with 2010 as we have some fantasitc clients to work with and some big and exciting plans for the future.  We’ll be back to work on 4th Jan ready to put all these ideas into action!

If you feel your business needs a little refreshing in 2010 why not give us a call; in the meantime all of us at Rambutan wish you a refreshing Christmas and a fruitful New Year.

Want free coaching?

Having completed a coaching review session in York Lance decided it was time for that much needed sugar rush.  On popping into a friendly cafe in the centre, he was surprised and delighted at the level of skilled coaching taking place amongst the staff.

You can learn a lot from watching people use different techniques in real life situations and there are many skilled coaches out there for us to observe.  So if you want a free coaching session, try visiting Krumbs cafe in York who work in partnership with City of York Council.

It’s a good sign!

Whilst out and about near St Paul’s Cathedral in London recently, Sarah spotted a refreshing sign next to a well manicured lawn:

food for thought

Posted in : random refreshment
Aug 4th, 2009

I read in the Independent last week that only 7% of youngsters in the UK are privately educated, but 75% of judges, 70% of finance directors, 55% of solicitors, more than 50% of top journalists and 45% of senior civil servants are public-school products.

Well-paid professional jobs continue to be passed down between the generations: doctors, lawyers, accountants and bankers typically grow up in families with incomes two-thirds higher than average.  Whist I am not surprised to see that privately educated children and those from more wealthy families do better, the level of the inequality shocked me.

There are loads more details on the Independent’s website at http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/the-big-question-why-has-britain-become-more-unequal-and-can-it-be-changed-1755796.html .  Have a look and join the blog with any thoughts.
